Ancillary text inspirations

Digipak:

Cage the Elephant - Tell me I'm pretty

- Clear cohesion throughout the CD through colour
- Same font throughout
- Simplistic CD
- Front cover standing out
- Artists signature look on cd (roses)

- Simplistic
- Black and White

- Black and white format
- Link between each section of the digipak (Cigarettes)

Logo:

I based my logo on the following 4 logos from the indie genre.
Each logo including mine is simplistic,  black and white and makes it clear what the artist is called.

Planning of ancillary texts

Photos:

Original back panel photo.

Original front cover photo.
The photos on the front cover and back panel of my digipak are both original. Took at Leeds festival 2016.

Logo:

Old/original logo
As for logos, I prefer the plain logo which I am currently using and it fits in well with each theme especially the simplistic one. I felt like the violet in the first logo was too bright and didn't suit the themes or band.

CD/DVD:

To create the rounded discs I decided to use an online template. The photo above is the template I used.

Additionally, I inserted a photo of the digipak on the magazine advert which I also used a template to do to ensure I got the measurements correct. This is the image I based mine upon.

On the inside left and the outside right covers I wanted a simple design of a waveform, and after seeking advice from teachers I chose one off the internet and incorporated it into my work. My decision to chose this particular one was swayed by the simple yet effective look it had.
As I redesigned all my ancillary texts after getting negative feedback prom both teachers and peers, I chose different photos, however, kept the original, basic design.

Filming

First attempt of filming
I filmed at Marina in Hull City Centre as it had the water which i wanted to feature in my video. As it was filmed at night, I asked another friends to come along to help me with lighting - all I used to light the actor up was an iPhone torch.

Some shots of video got deleted as there wasn't enough space on the memory card hence why there is little video. To compensate for this, I decide to record some of the landscape shots on my phone (iPhone SE). None of this footage was used in the final cut of my video.

Second attempt of filming

Email to Ferens Art Gallery.
Reply from Ferens Art Gallery.
Unfortunately, on the day I planned to film the gallery was unavailable and I was not able to film there.
Instead, I filmed around Humber street, on Hull Marina and in old derelict buildings ie Lordline.
Lordline
I also chose to film some parts in a green room so I could manipulate and edit the clips easily.
Another location I filmed was Hessle.
